LOGAN, W.Va. – The hit musical “9 to 5” is set to be brought to life on the local stage in November.
Southern Coalition for the Arts will perform the musical based on the classic 1980 movie of the same name. The show includes music and lyrics by Dolly Parton.
“This show is so upbeat and fun,” said Rachel Noe-Maynard, president of the Arts. “We’re excited to bring another quality production to the stage right here in Logan, and we know you’ll enjoy this high-energy production.
Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.
Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
Performances will take place November 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m., with a matinee showing November 10 at 3 p.m. All performances will take place at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s Logan campus.
